BIO

Hello, if you have found your way to these pages then welcome, I am Kevin Pears the owner of this web site. For nearly 40 years now I have been collecting golf balls, mainly Dunlop but I have some others. I must have over 4000 balls by now, loose single balls and many others in their original dozen ball boxes. However boxes for 15, 10, 6, 4, 3, 2 and even single ball boxes are all found as well.

As a younger man I used to play a lot of golf and for many years a Dunlop 65 was the ball of choice. Back then in the mid to late 70's these came in their own individual wrappers. There was always a distinctive smell when you opened one. Many of the balls in my collection are still in their original paper wrappers. However with the passing of time many of these are feeling their age.

As with all collectables, balls in best condition will fetch the highest prices, a mint condition ball still in its wrapper is invariably best. Although a small market, antique golf ball sales are steadily increasing.

Around 2001 I discovered ebay and that allowed me to research and to buy many more balls to expand my collection. Additionally, each year in the UK and US there are several sporting auctions and golfing collectables are always on sale. At this time it is mainly balls from the 19th Century and very early balls from 1900-10 which are attracting attention. However as with all collecting hobbies, things from later era's will become more popular with the passing of time.  It is still possible to get a great collection going at a reasonable cost.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, or if you have any Dunlop balls for sale, or indeed if you are wanting to make me an offer for anything you see on my site. I have many spares which I can sell.

I have also been writing a comprehensive book, cum encyclopedia on Dunlop balls, after about 20 years it currently stands at around 1800 pages, ok mainly pictures however it is vast. Copies of the book are for sale at $100 a copy, due to the size it will be sent on a flash stick.

The two nice pictures are of St. Andrews, Fife Scotland the home of golf and Nairn, my home town with it's two Championship links in view.. just.
